Granny Square Mug Cosy
A crochet mug cosy suitable for beginners. You will need a basic understanding of crochet stitches such as chaining and double crochet.
What you will need-
- Wool
- Mug
- Crochet
Step 1- Chain 5 and join together to from a circle
Step 2- Chain 3 more stitches (This counts as your first double crochet)
Step 3- Double Crochet into the ring
Step 4- Double crochet into the ring again. This set of stitches is the first “Shell” of the granny square, a shell consists of three double crochets together in the same space.
The first round will consists of four shells you will need to chain 2 stitches between each shell in the first round
Step 5- Chain 2 and make another ring (shell No.2)
Step 6- Chain again and make another shell by doing 3 double crochet into the same ring (shell No.3)
Step 7- Chain 2 again and make another shell, you will now have 4 shells and can now join them together with a slip stitch.
Step 8- This concludes the first round all subsequent rounds are a repeat of the round, the only difference is the number of shells and the amount of chain in-between shells.
Chain 2 in a corner and chain 1 in-between each shell
Step 9- Sew your three squares together by lining up wrong sides together and sewing through the two stitches nearest to each other.
Step 10- Add some ribbon or buttons then enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
